Online Advertising Increases 38% in 2006

A recent Reuters report showed online advertising for the first quarter of 2006 rose 38% over last year. Advertising also rose over 6% compared to the 4th quarter of 2005. While advertising was up as whole across the internet the largest gains were realized by Google's Adwords Program and Yahoo's Overture program. Last year online advertising topped over 12 billion dollars.

Analysts believe the increase is not only due to new advertisers entering the market but also due to increased ROI measurement that isn't possible with other forms of offline advertising.
